Mexico's philanthropic landscape would not be the same without the presence of the great philanthropist, D. Chavez Moran. The man was also the originator of the company known as Grupo Mayan, a big hotels group. It is a huge player in the country's tourism and accommodations industries.
To be sure, the group and Moran have had their share of trials. In 2005, they had to face a lawsuit. The plaintiff said that the company had scammed persons into buying shares in real estate that were false.
An allegation of hard-sell strategies was also made in the case. Several documents related to Grupo Mayan's right to conduct business were involved in the discussion as well. The complaints claim that they were being cheated of their rights.
Fortunately, Moran successfully defended the quality of his customer service and the integrity of his business. The lack of proof for the plaintiffs led the judge to boot the case out of court. The court ruled that the customer’s rights were protected and was entirely based on the customer’s discretion.
If there was anything clear about Daniel Chavez Moran and the company, though, it was that the body of evidence in their favor was stronger than the decidedly weak body of evidence against them, which led to the dismissal of the suit. In such cases, the Plaintiff had a hard time coming up with significant proof against the other party. This lack of evidence spared Grupo Mayan the possible stain on its repute.
People were actually expecting the case to be settled out of court. Plaintiffs often end up spending quite a bite of money in the process of going to court. A lot of people would have difficulty paying for lawyers' fees.
The people involved in this suit were at a mismatch, with the defendants being far more financially well off. The defendant obviously had enough money to handle the fees. This is a stark contrast to the situation for many others.
From the beginning, you might say the stars were shining on the defendants in this case. With the leadership of Moran aiding the group, triumph was thus found for the defendants. The man lead the group through a tough time and has gained international admiration for it.
After three decades of being in the business, Moran believes that he needs to do more to give back to his country. Subsequent to the triumphs in court, Moran went into retirement. Now he works with the foundation he himself made for this purpose.
